BACKGROUND:
Northamptonshire Cricket are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a positive, motivated, and experienced Physiotherapist to become a key part of our forward-thinking Science and Medicine Team. As one of the country’s first-class county clubs, we’re proud to compete at the highest level across all formats of the game.
Our Science and Medicine department is dedicated to delivering elite medical and performance support to both our professional and academy squads. You’ll be working within a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team (MDT) that includes physiotherapists, sport and exercise medicine doctors,
strength and conditioning coaches, psychologists, and nutritionists — with additional input from specialist consultants when needed. This is an environment where collaboration, innovation, and positivity are at the heart of everything we do.

JOB PURPOSE
As Senior Physiotherapist, you’ll take a lead role in delivering world-class medical and performance support across Northamptonshire CCC. While your main focus will be working with our professional squad, you’ll also play a pivotal part in shaping the academy set-up — helping to develop the next
generation of players and ensure they have the very best foundation for long-term success.
We’re looking for someone who brings energy, expertise, and the highest standards of care to maximise player health, performance, and availability. The role is varied and dynamic, involving regular national and occasional international travel, along with working flexibly across evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated, positive individual to take on a key leadership role within our medical and performance team, driving standards forward and leaving a lasting impact on both our current squad and future stars.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist Head Physiotherapist with contracted staff covering training and match days as required.
• Deliver excellent and evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation to contracted staff
• Work collaboratively within the science and medicine team and professional coaching team
CLINICAL DUTIES
• Skilled diagnostic assessment and treatment to manage player injuries.
• Design and implementation of rehabilitation programs in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches
• Provide pitch side trauma care at training and game days
• Perform any relevant and required medical screenings for players
• Report assessment and treatment notes in the Smartabase system adhering with professional and club standards
• Ensure that daily practice is underpinned by strong evidence-based research leading to quality implementation of strategies and decisions
• Work in collaboration with the rest of the clubs MDT to maximise player health and wellbeing.
OTHER DUTIES
• Assist Head of Science and Medicine with the annual ECB Science and Medicine Audit
• Participate in the annual ECB CPD seminars and contribute to the ongoing CPD programme of our Science and Medicine Department to keep abreast of best practice.
• To work collaboratively with ECB staff to co-manage international pathway players.
• Travel with players to external consultations with specialists where required
• To carry out any other duties that may be required by management and are within the capabilities.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
A) ESSENTIAL
• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy
• Current registration with the HCPC and current accreditation and membership with the CSP
• Experience within the musculoskeletal and sports injury field
• ‘Right to Work’ status to work in the UK
• Flexibility to workdays / hours and willing to be available on weekends/bank holidays and in school holidays.
• Own transport
• An understanding of the safeguarding and health and safety needs relevant to the role.
B) DESIRABLE
• A postgraduate qualification specialising in Sports Physiotherapy/ Sports and Exercise Medicine or working towards
• Experience of using electronic notes software and systems (Smartabase, VALD, GPS)
• Working knowledge of cricket and understanding of the sport
• Have a current up to date sports trauma care certification and emergency care accreditation (e.g. RFU, FA or Lubas Medical)
