£22,000 - £25,000 plus expenses, dependent on experience but will comply with National Minimum wage rates

Location
Various venues across the County with cricket related travel as necessary, the Northumberland Cricket Board office base is at Benwell Hill Cricket Club in Newcastle upon Tyne.


Role purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a cricket coach to support the development of the game in the County. The main objective will be to increase the participation levels for girls across the County (Northumberland, Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside).

We are looking for an enthusiastic coach to join our team to provide high quality activities, games, festivals and competitions for girls across the County. All activity will link into county board programmes which promote access to sustainable participation including:

  • Metro Bank - Girls club programmes
  • Chance to Shine Street
  • Chance to Shine Schools
  • All Stars Cricket
  • Dynamos Cricket
  • Lords Taverners Super 1s / Table Cricket
  • Women & Girls competitions (including softball cricket)

Responsibilities

Our new Girl's Cricket Development Coach will work alongside our Women & Girls Development Officer and Project officer to drive the female game within the county, with a specific emphasis on:

  • Increasing the number of girls’ teams
  • Increasing the number of girls’ sections within our clubs and across the community
  • Increase the number of competition opportunities for girls
  • Increase the number of young volunteers developing as 'Cricket Young Activators'
  • Increase the volunteer workforce in the female game, including coaches and officials

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To deliver coaching sessions in Primary and Secondary schools across Northumberland
  • Lead on the delivery of All Stars and Dynamo’s cricket sessions
  • To link all school and community activity to exit routes whether traditional or non-traditional.
  • To support the delivery at clubs who have existing or developing new girls sections
  • To coach on Chance to Shine Street programmes across the County
  • Assisting in the development of cricket in accordance with the Northumberland Cricket Strategic Plan

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • ECB Disclosure and Barring System Check (assistance available)
  • UKCC2 Certificate in Cricket Coaching / Core coach (desirable), Foundation Coach (essential minimum)
  • First Aid Certificate (assistance available)
  • Safeguarding Level 2 Certificate (assistance available)
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to car.
  • Ability to work to individual and team targets.
  • Experience of coaching in various environments
  • Ability to communicate with key stake holders and customers.
  • Motivated and committed to personal development.
