CASUAL KITCHEN PORTER
RESPONSIBLE TO: HEAD CHEF
PAY RATE:
18 and over: £12.71 per hour
16-17: £8 per hour

We are currently recruiting for casual Kitchen Porters.
Role responsibilities:
- Maintain basic food preparation skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and food hygiene requirements
- Comply with all health & Safety notices that are displayed and ensure knowledge of these
- Prepare, clear and clean food production areas, wash up area and all storage areas
- Keep work surfaces, walls and floors clean and sanitised.
- To ensure that all food production equipment and FOH food service equipment is cleaned as required in a timely manner
- Remove all waste as required and take to designated waste deposit area
- Complete daily cleaning schedule as instructed by the Head Chef/Sous Chef
Experience and training:
- Some kitchen or hospitality experience helpful, but not essential.
- Awareness of health & safety, manual handling, and food hygiene practices.
- Able to clean, prep and maintain kitchen equipment, floors, walls and storage areas.
- Works well under pressure, reliable, punctual and a team player.
- Physically fit or a demanding role, adaptable and keen to learn.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Experience carrying out cleaning or manual tasks to a high standard.
- Basic awareness of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
- Understanding of the importance of cleanliness and safe working practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work to set cleaning schedules.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Physically capable of completing manual duties, including standing for long periods and lifting items safely.
- Reliable, punctual and flexible to meet business needs.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- No formal qualifications required.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of food hygiene standards within a commercial kitchen.
- Awareness of COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Food hygiene certificate or willingness to undertake training.
