We’re seeking an experienced cricket professional to join NZC’s High Performance team as BLACKCAPS Selector. You’ll work alongside the Head Coach to identify, assess and select elite talent for the national side.
About the role
As BLACKCAPS Selection Manager, you’ll work with the Head Coach (Head Selector) and BLACKCAPS support team to choose squads, touring teams and centrally contracted players, ensuring decisions align with NZC’s high-performance strategy. You’ll manage the selection process from meetings to approvals, communicate decisions to players and stakeholders, and contribute to talent identification, including New Zealand A team selections.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach and BLACKCAPS support team in selecting squads and contracted players.
- Manage all administration of selection processes and approvals.
- Ensure clear, consistent communication to players, coaches, media and stakeholders.
- Contribute to talent identification by scouting domestic cricket and reviewing performance data.
- Provide constructive feedback to players and support public/media announcements.
- Attend domestic and international matches as required.
About you
You will have proven experience in high-level cricket, a deep understanding of the structure of cricket in New Zealand, and the ability to assess players against international strategies. You’re confident using data and analytics in selection, skilled in managing sensitive conversations, and resilient under public scrutiny.
You will also have:
- Proven ability to identify and assess elite-level talent.
- Experience analysing performance data to guide decisions.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- The ability to collaborate with coaches, players and administrators.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and travel as required.
This is a Fixed Term contract working varied hours per month.
