Otago Cricket is one of six Major Associations that delivers professional, amateur and community cricket. Our performance environment which has been developed over the past years is highly regarded with quality processes, and structures that provide aspiring players and coaches with opportunities to learn, develop and compete; and to reach their ultimate goal, to play for the Otago Volts and Otago Sparks, White Ferns and Black Caps.
OTAGO SPARKS ASSISTANT COACH PART TIME– POSITION SUMMARY
We are to seeking to appoint an experienced and innovative Assistant Coach who has the skill set to support our female high-performance environment.
The primary responsibility of the Assist Coach will be to assist the Head of Female Performance to deliver coaching skills to our talented female playing group
The Assistant Coach will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Coach in delivering high performance outcomes for a professional domestic cricket team. This position requires a strong understanding of the modern game, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with players and support staff to develop individual and team performance in line with strategic goals.
All Otago performance coaches and staff are expected to work across programmes, and with other Otago Cricket performance coaches, wherever opportunities and planning makes this practical. For the Assistant Coach this would include the Women’s A programme, the Sparks Wider Training group, the non-playing group and where applicable the Otago Players of Interest Group (POI’s).
The Assistant Coach will promote and support a strong team culture, based on the Otago GREAT values of Growth Mindset, Resilience, Enjoyment, Accountability, and Team First. The successful candidate will be a very strong relationship builder, have high level technical and tactical cricket knowledge and skills, but equally importantly, proven experience in quality planning and excellent communication, using a systematic learning cycle approach to accelerate the development of players.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES FOR THE POSITION
• Proven track record in people leadership. Able to evidence a collaborative approach to athlete management at Domestic and/or International level.
• Proven planning and communication skills that lead to successful athlete outcomes.
• Expert level technical and tactical cricket capability and high-performance coaching knowledge with experience with domestic level cricketers.
• A focus on the holistic development of all players.
• Has or is working towards New Zealand’s highest level coaching accreditation or international equivalent.
• Legally entitled to work in New Zealand
