Prince Alfred College is a leading independent day and boarding school for boys from ELC to Year 12 based in Adelaide, South Australia. Our purpose is to nurture each boy to develop into well-rounded young men of good character, who are prepared to contribute positively to society.

The College prides itself on having a significant cricket program as an essential part of our co-curricular offering. There now exists a unique opportunity available to lead our Cricket program across the school as the Director of Cricket.

About the role

As the Director of Cricket, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, coordination, and development of our cricket program. This role involves creating and implementing initiatives that cater to all levels of the game, from primary through to our First XI.

Working closely with students, coaches, staff and parents you will create a dynamic and inclusive cricket environment that fosters skill development, competitive spirit, and a love for the game, and ensuring the success of the program.

You will oversee the recruitment and ongoing development of coaches and managers, ensuring high standards of training, performance, and care. Your role will also include stakeholder engagement, administration and budget management, and representing the College in key cricket networks and associations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a whole-school cricket strategy focused on engagement, development, and performance.
  • Lead and mentor coaches and managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Promote cricketas a sport of choice through positive student experiences.
  • Promote and run a preseason training and development program for boys across the College.
  • Manage team selection processes, athlete development pathways, and performance tracking.
  • Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and external bodies including SACA, CA, SAAS and SSSSA
  • Coordinate tours, exchanges, and special events to enhance program visibility and student opportunities.
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in leading cricket programs at school, club or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of coaching methodologies and athlete development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to student wellbeing and visibility at training and games.
  • Level 2 (minimum) cricket coaching qualifications.
  • A passion for cricket and working with young people.
