Role Overview
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in the day-to-day technical, tactical, and logistical management of the Qatar Women’s National Team, contributing across all disciplines of the game while taking a lead role in specific areas assigned by the Head Coach.
About Qatar Cricket Association
The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) is the national governing body for cricket in the State of Qatar, responsible for the development, administration, and international representation of the sport at all levels. QCA oversees the Men’s and Women’s National Teams, age-group national squads, and the broader domestic cricket pathway, with a mandate to raise playing standards and grow participation across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Coach in planning and delivering training sessions, camps, and match-day preparation for the Women’s National Team.
- Take a lead coaching role in specific disciplines (e.g. fielding, fitness, or a batting/bowling specialism) as assigned by the Head Coach, while remaining adaptable across all areas of the game.
- Conduct individual and small-group coaching sessions to address specific player development needs identified by the coaching staff.
- Assist in scouting, talent identification, and assessment of players from domestic competitions and pathway programs for national team selection.
- Help plan and manage logistics for training camps, tours, and tournaments, including liaising with team management on travel, accommodation, and equipment needs.
- Maintain accurate records of player performance, attendance, and development progress using QCA’s monitoring tools and reporting formats.
- Support the implementation of sports science and medicine protocols in coordination with physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and medical staff.
- Act as a representative of QCA’s coaching standards and code of conduct at all times, including during international tours and ICC-sanctioned events.
- Contribute to post-match and post-series review processes, including video analysis and written performance reports.
- Mentor and support emerging domestic coaches and pathway programs as directed by the Head Coach and QCA’s High Performance department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum ICC Level 2 coaching certification (or equivalent national governing body qualification); Level 3 preferred.
- Prior playing experience at a representative level (domestic first-class, national, or international) is strongly preferred.
- At least 2-3 years of coaching experience with a representative women’s or age-group team, club, or academy environment.
- Working knowledge of player welfare, safeguarding principles, and athlete development pathways in women’s cricket.
- Familiarity with performance analysis tools and video review software is an advantage.
- Valid First Aid / Basic Life Support certification, or willingness to obtain prior to appointment.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with players from diverse backgrounds.
- Sound technical understanding across batting, bowling, and fielding disciplines.
- Collaborative approach to working within a multi-disciplinary coaching and support staff team.
- Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the specific considerations relevant to coaching women’s national teams in the Gulf region.
- Willingness to travel internationally for tours, camps, and ICC events, including extended periods away from home.
