About Us:
Staffordshire Cricket is a company limited by guarantee and a UK registered charity. We exist to lead, inspire and influence the development and accessibility of recreational cricket in our county.

We are seeking a Chair to lead our board of trustees and directors into a new chapter in the proud history of the grassroots game in Staffordshire, building upon our reputation for developing talented cricketers, supporting a thriving club and league network and creating opportunities for people to access cricket and find their place in the game.

We are considered a ‘Ready to Invest’ Recreational County Cricket Board by the England & Wales Cricket Board.

About You:
As Chair, you will help to shape the strategic direction of cricket in Staffordshire. You will be an equitable, strategic leader who understands governance, connects people, and champions inclusive, recreational and community-focused cricket.

Working with the board and supporting the executive team, you will have:
• a passion and deep understanding of grassroots and recreational cricket
• strong leadership and influencing skills
• experience of strategic development and board-level governance
• ambassadorial and relationship-management qualities
• the desire, time, energy and commitment to make a difference
• experience in at least one of the following themes: business development,
sponsorship, facility / capital project development, legal, commercial.
• eligibility to be a company director/trustee

About the Role:
The Chair will lead the board and support the executive team ensuring legal, contractual and charitable obligations are met. The role’s key responsibilities are:

• Board & Strategic Leadership - creating a trusted, challenging, effective and inclusive environment to support the board’s governance, finances, performance and reputation.
• Strong relationship building - internal and external partner and stakeholder focus to strengthen and broaden the game’s reach
• Maintenance of our Company Principles - Inclusive, Professional Inspiring & Transparent
• Demonstration of our Company Personality - Approachable, Welcoming, Passionate, Knowledgeable.

About the Role:
Terms
The role is remunerated to reflect the time commitment expected with reasonable out-of-pocket expenses also payable. Directors must seek election for their first 4-year term at the third annual general meeting following their initial appointment. Directors may not serve more than two four-year terms plus their initial term.

Commitment
• 3-4 days’ equivalent per month (with some additional time at key milestone times)
• 6-8 board meetings per annum—mix of online and in-person, AGM & sub-committee meetings
• Occasional representation at national events 1-2 days per annum
