WA Cricket is looking to engage a Contractor to develop and monitor the performance of WA Premier Cricket Umpires. The contractor will ensure consistency of umpire coaching within the WA Cricket model and support the delivery of a seasonal development training program.
This is a short-term engagement from July 2026 until February 2027, suitable for someone who thrives working independently and delivering actionable insights.
What’s involved
- Deliver umpire coaching and development services to the WA Premier Cricket umpiring cohort, in alignment with program objectives
- Contribute to the development and review of Individual Development Plans for umpires
- Conduct education sessions with Premier Clubs to support umpire capability and relationships
- Observe umpire performances and provide feedback using professional judgement, including via the Match Official System (MOS)
- Review umpire self-assessments and provide feedback as appropriate
A great fit looks like
- Demonstrated experience in sports administration and/or officiating, ideally within cricket.
- Strong working knowledge of cricket and its Laws.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships across varied stakeholders.
- Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
- Proven experience delivering training or information sessions in an engaging and informative way.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the project schedule.
- A Working with Children card.
- Sound knowledge of coaching philosophies and practices (desirable)
- Experience in training and development (desirable)
- Representative (Level 2) Umpire Accreditation (desirable)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and capabilities
Contract Details
- Operate as an independent contractor with an ABN
- Commence mid to late July 2026
- 7-month duration
- Various metropolitan locations
- Be responsible for all taxation and insurance obligations
- Payment made by monthly invoice
- Provide own IT hardware compatible with WA Cricket IT systems
