The United Arab Emirates will play host to the 2022 edition of the DICC T20 Champions Trophy from 2 – 9 October 2022.

Deaf Cricket South Africa (DCSA) will take part along with Bangladesh, India, Australia and Pakistan. The single group tournament, with each team playing 4 matches consists of two qualifiers, an eliminator and a final.

Chairperson for Central Gauteng Lions Deaf Cricket, Sivesh Poonsamy is thrilled with the news that six Lions Cricket players have been confirmed in the team that will represent Deaf Cricket South Africa (DCSA). They are Colin Venter (Captain for DCSA), Sivesh Poonsamy, Gareth Harries, Shani De Jager, Rivaj Ramjugernath (reserved) and Shanon Van Der Berg (reserved).

“I am delighted with every single player selected: The dedication towards this monumental tournament has paid off in National colours. Time now for the players to take to the field and do what they do best – I do wish them all well and have no doubt that every member will represent his Pride with pride and professionalism.”

Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright warmly congratulates each member of the Pride;

“This is going to be a thrilling and tough tournament – but I have no doubt that our Lions are ready and excited to play. They are hungry and determined to showcase their skills. Our cricketers representing DCSA play an integral part in our cricket eco-system which means we’ll be watching, supporting and shouting for the wins. On behalf of our Union, I wish all six players from our Central Gauteng Lions Deaf Cricket team well: May you enjoy every minute of this Champions Trophy and give it all you’ve got right from the very first ball. We are so proud of you…let the Lion ROAR!”
