Digvesh Singh receives one-match ban after accumulating five demerit points

Digvesh Singh, bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been fined 50% of his match fee and handed a one-match suspension for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 61 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Monday.

This was Singh’s third Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the Code this season, bringing his total demerit points to five. As per IPL regulations, accumulating five demerit points in a season triggers a one-match suspension.

Here’s the breakdown of Singh’s demerit point accumulation:

  • 1 point vs Punjab Kings on April 1, 2025
  • 2 points vs Mumbai Indians on April 4, 2025
  • 2 points vs Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 20, 2025

As a result, Digvesh Singh will miss LSG’s upcoming match against Gujarat Titans on May 22, 2025 in Ahmedabad.

For Level 1 breaches, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

Abhishek Sharma fined for separate Code of Conduct breach

Abhishek Sharma, all-rounder for Sunrisers Hyderabad, has also been fined 25% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the same fixture.

This marks Sharma’s first Level 1 offence under Article 2.6 this season, resulting in the addition of one demerit point to his record.

The Match Referee’s decision is final for Level 1 offences under the IPL Code of Conduct.
