Mehidy’s dominant Test series and Bryce’s all-round brilliance at World Cup Qualifier earn ICC recognition

Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh and Kathryn Bryce of Scotland have been named the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for April 2025, following standout individual performances in Test and ODI cricket respectively.

Mehidy makes history with match-winning all-round performance

Mehidy Hasan becomes just the third Bangladeshi player to receive the prestigious monthly ICC award, joining Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. His match-winning efforts in the home Test series against Zimbabwe were pivotal in Bangladesh’s innings win in Chattogram, which helped the hosts draw the series 1-1.

The 27-year-old all-rounder finished the two-Test series with 15 wickets, including three five-wicket hauls, and scored his second Test century — a crucial 104 in Chattogram. The performance lifted him to number two in the ICC Men’s Test All-Rounder Rankings — the highest of his career to date.

Mehidy was chosen ahead of Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani and New Zealand pacer Ben Sears to claim the Men’s Player of the Month title.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz: “It’s an incredible honor to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. This award will be a big source of inspiration for me to keep giving my best and contributing to Bangladesh’s success on the world stage.”

Kathryn Bryce dominates ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce was named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month after a series of commanding performances at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan. Although Scotland fell short of qualification, Bryce earned Player of the Series honors for her individual brilliance.

The all-rounder scored 293 runs in five matches at an average of 73.25, including a brilliant 131* against Ireland. She also notched scores of 91 against Pakistan and 60 versus Thailand, while taking six wickets during the tournament.

Bryce beat out West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana to earn the monthly accolade.

Kathryn Bryce: “Knowing that it’s being voted for by the global cricket community makes it that extra bit special. It was a fantastic tournament for Scotland, and I’m proud of how our team performed and grew.”
