The Melbourne Stars are pleased to announce the appointment of Max Abbott as the club’s new General Manager.

Having held positions previously at the ICC and Cricket Australia, Abbott brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, complimented by long standing relationships with key stakeholders in the game in both Australia and overseas.

Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins said Abbott was the clear standout amongst what was an extremely strong field of candidates.

“Max’s global cricket experience is something that really appealed to the selection committee and his innate understanding of world class events, having worked across six ICC events in the past seven years as well as a consultant for Cricket Australia,” Cummins said.

“Max is a terrific person with deep connections in cricket across players, administrators, broadcasters and fans and this will hold him in good stead as he seeks to drive the club towards sustained success both on and off the field.

“Again I’d like to acknowledge and thank outgoing General Manager Blair Crouch for his dedication over the past four years and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.”

General Manager Max Abbott said:

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead Melbourne Stars ahead of what will be a massive summer for the game in 2025/26.

“Cricket has always been a big part of my life, from the grassroots level to ICC global events, so I look forward to bringing that experience together for this role with the Stars.

“The club has an incredible legacy, a passionate fan base and some of the best players in the world on both the women’s and men’s rosters, so I’m excited by what can be achieved over the coming seasons.”

Abbott will commence in his new role on 24th March.
