As cricket’s footprint in Asia continues to grow, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has taken steps to shape the sport’s future across the region. Soon after Pakistan clinched the U19 Asia Cup title in a dominant win over India, the ACC convened a high-level meeting in Dubai to map out a path forward for cricket development at all levels.
According to a report by GeoSuper, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi led the special session, which brought together senior cricket officials from across the continent—including representatives from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE.
ACC praised for flawless U-19 Asia Cup organization
Before turning to long-term planning, the council acknowledged the successful staging of the ACC Men’s U-19 Asia Cup 2025. The tournament culminated in Pakistan’s emphatic 191-run victory over India, marking a high point in junior-level cricket for the region.
Reflecting on the tournament’s smooth execution, Naqvi extended his appreciation to the organizing committee and support staff. “The entire ACC team deserves congratulations for the successful conduct of the Asia Cup,” he stated.
The praise was echoed by member board officials in attendance, who highlighted the professionalism and coordination demonstrated throughout the event.
Regional infrastructure push takes centre stage
While the recently concluded U-19 Asia Cup drew praise for its flawless execution, the focus of the meeting quickly shifted from celebration to action. A key agenda item was the approval of state-of-the-art high-performance centres to be established across Asia. These centres are intended to serve as development hubs for emerging talent, especially in countries with limited access to modern cricket infrastructure.
“The scope of ACC’s high-performance centres will be gradually expanded,” Naqvi said during the meeting, confirming that the project will be launched in phases to ensure sustained regional growth.
Officials agreed that priority will be given to nations currently lacking elite facilities, with an aim to raise competitive standards and deepen the talent pool across member boards.
A unified vision for Asian cricket’s next chapter
The coming years will determine how effectively these plans translate into on-field progress, but the groundwork laid in Dubai is already being seen as a pivotal step in elevating Asian cricket to new heights.
