Reports of dressing room disagreements and declining focus among players further prompted the BCCI to act.
A high-level review meeting was conducted, involving head coach Gautam Gambhir, Captain , and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. The outcome was a comprehensive policy overhaul to ensure accountability and professionalism within the team.
Key Policy Highlights:
- Mandatory Domestic Cricket Participation: Players must participate in domestic cricket to remain eligible for national selection and central contracts. Exceptions will require prior approval under extraordinary circumstances.
- Travel Guidelines: Players must travel together during matches and practice sessions. Individual travel arrangements with family members are strongly discouraged, and strict baggage limits have been imposed, with excess costs borne by players.
- Restrictions on Personal Staff and Endorsements: Personal staff accompanying players on tours is restricted, and players are prohibited from engaging in personal shoots or endorsements during series.
- Controlled Family Travel Policy: Family visits are allowed only during long overseas tours and under specified conditions.
- Attendance at Official Events: Players must attend BCCI-organized events and promotional activities and remain with the team until the conclusion of a series, even if matches finish earlier than scheduled.

Non-compliance with these rules could lead to severe penalties, including suspension from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and deductions from central contract retainers and match fees.
