In an emotional ceremony on May 16, 2025, the legendary batter and Mumbai Indians captain was honoured at his home ground as Level Three of the Divecha Pavilion was officially renamed after him.
“What is going to happen today, I have never dreamed of. As a kid growing up, I wanted to play for Mumbai, for India,” said Rohit Sharma, reflecting on a journey that began in the gullies of Borivali and has now etched his name permanently into the Wankhede legacy.
A tribute to a generational cricketer
Surrounded by his family and well-wishers, Rohit Sharma unveiled the stand that now bears his name, acknowledging how meaningful the gesture was: “To have my name amongst the greats of the game, I cannot express what the feeling is. For that, I am really really grateful.”
