Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer

New Zealand Cricket is breaking new ground in the effort to expand cricket and sporting achievement across the nation, with a vision for cricket to be New Zealand’s favourite game, Te tino kēmu a Aotearoa.

Working across the sporting landscape of New Zealand and international commercial environments, New Zealand Cricket is seeking an experienced Chief Marketing & Commercial Officer to lead the development and implementation of NZC’s marketing, commercial, communications, digital and broadcast strategies. This role will bring a strategic vision to drive our marketing objectives while having a strong understanding of how to integrate digital, communications and commercial to align with the Strategic Plan and ensure sustainable growth of NZC. The CMCO will be responsible for driving new business initiatives and increase of commercial opportunities across the NZC ecosystem.

Core Pillars of the Role

  • The Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer will lead the management of marketing, commercial, digital, communications and broadcast media functions within NZC. This role will be responsible for developing new marketing campaigns across multiple platforms and integrating a digital roadmap within the NZC ecosystem and its associated brands and teams. This role will require extensive commercial and marketing exposure within a leading business and a passion for innovation and creativity. Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team of NZC, the CMCO will act as the primary contact for managing partnered agencies, digital investments and platforms as well as commercial broadcast partnership strategies.
  • The CMCO will also be responsible for leading contract negotiation across media and broadcast agreements to develop core revenue opportunities and funding for cricket across New Zealand, providing access to the game for fans from all regions. This will require extensive contract management or contract negotiation experience across a high-value sales environment with core commercial acumen.
  • Reporting to the CEO, this role will act as a core member of the Senior Leadership Team for New Zealand Cricket and will lead all commercial strategy across the business utilising marketing and digital innovation to reach fans across the globe.
