Women’s Player of the Month
To assist in your decision on who to vote for in the women’s category, below is a quick glance at the four nominees May performances as the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy continued and the Charlotte Edwards Cup began.
Kirstie Gordon (The Blaze)
A brilliant month for Gordon saw her take 17 wickets at an average of 10.8 to total 135 MVP points for May.
The 26-year-old slow left-armer won two Match MVP awards, one in each competition, securing 37 points for 29 and 2-13 against Vipers and 36 points for 43 and 3-25 against Thunder.
Amanda-Jade Wellington (Western Storm)
Receiving a nomination for a second month in a row, Storm’s Australian overseas took 10 wickets and scored 139 runs in May to earn 120 MVP points.
The 27-year-old leg-spinner picked up two Match MVPs in the Charlotte Edwards Cup with 31 and 3-20 against the Vipers and 3-22 against the Stars.
Eve Jones (Central Sparks)
A strong May for Jones saw the batter score 307 runs at a brilliant average of 51.2 to secure 110 MVP points.
The Central Sparks 31-year-old secured a Match MVP against Thunder for a fabulous unbeaten knock of 136 in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, which secured her 40 points.
Fi Morris (Thunder)
Thunder’s all-rounder Morris took seven dismissals during May alongside 136 runs to total 102 MVP points.
The 30-year-old also secured a duo of Match MVP awards in the Charlotte Edwards Cup, the most impressive coming against the Sparks, earning 42 points for 3-22 and 43 with the bat.
Men’s Player of the Month
May saw four rounds of the Vitality County Championship in the men’s game with Surrey and Essex continuing their strong starts to the season. The Vitality Blast started towards the end of the month to kick off the summer’s white-ball men’s domestic cricket.
Liam Dawson (Hampshire)
The Hampshire all-rounder has picked up 16 wickets, alongside scoring 245 runs across his matches in May, securing 143 MVP points.
The 34-year-old picked up three Match MVP awards, the most impressive of which coming against Surrey scoring 81 and taking match figure of 7-66.
Jordan Cox (Essex)
The Essex batter scored a phenomenal 478 runs, including two centuries, in May leading to 118 MVP points for the month.
The 23-year-old picked up a Match MVP award against his former team Kent thanks to a brilliant innings of 207 off 255 balls at Canterbury, earning him 47 MVP points.
David Bedingham (Durham)
Durham’s number four has scored 449 runs during the month which incredibly involved four consecutive hundreds in as many innings.
The 30-year-old secured 115 MVP points including two Match MVP awards against Somerset and Hampshire, scoring 101 and 144 to book-end his two hundreds against Lancashire.
Keaton Jennings (Lancashire)
The Lancashire captain amassed 476 runs during May, resulting in 114 MVP points.
The 31-year-old left-handed batter won a Match MVP award against Durham thanks to scoring centuries in both innings. His knocks of 115 and 155 secured him 71 MVP points – the highest Match MVP points total this season.
