The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but with India refusing to visit Pakistan, a significant decision now rests on the upcoming ICC Board meeting in February. The PCB has already declared the proposed hybrid model as “unacceptable,” adding complexity to the situation.

According to cricket.com, reports indicate that the ICC has informed the PCB that hosting a global event without India is not viable, as it would impose a significant financial burden on all member nations. In response, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized ongoing discussions with the ICC President to ensure a resolution based on fairness.

“Our stance is very clear. I promise we’ll do what is best for Pakistan cricket,” Naqvi stated during a press conference in Lahore.

“I’m constantly in touch with the ICC chairman, and my team is in regular discussions with them. We’re firm in our position that it’s unacceptable for us to play in India while they refuse to play here. Whatever decision is made will be based on equality. We’ve communicated this clearly to the ICC, and we’ll share further updates when available,” he added.

Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is set to conclude his tenure on Sunday and transition to the ICC as Chairman of its governing council. His new role will hold considerable significance for the PCB, which anticipates impartiality from the outgoing BCCI official.

“[Jay Shah] takes charge in December, and I’m sure once he moves from the BCCI to the ICC, he will focus on the ICC’s benefit, as he should. Anyone in such a position must prioritize the interests of that organization,” Naqvi remarked. “I promise you, we will not sell out our rights just for financial gain. That will never happen. We will do whatever is best for Pakistan cricket.”
