The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will hold elections on September 29 as it moves to restore an elected leadership after more than two years of ad hoc administration, according to a report by the Times of India.
The election will determine six positions on the RCA Apex Council for the 2026–2029 term: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Joint-Secretary, Treasurer and one Executive Member. Voting and counting will take place at the RCA Academy in Jaipur, with results scheduled to be declared the same day.
RCA moves back towards elected administration
The September vote follows an extended period in which the RCA has operated without an elected executive committee. An ad hoc committee had been tasked with running the association and facilitating elections, but its tenure was repeatedly extended as the process remained incomplete.
The Rajasthan High Court suspended that committee in July and appointed Additional Chief Secretary Bhaskar A. Sawant as RCA Administrator. Sawant subsequently submitted an election schedule to the court, providing a pathway for the long-delayed electoral process to proceed.
Former Rajasthan State Election Commissioner AK Pande, a retired IAS officer, has been appointed as the independent Electoral Officer. Former District Judge Pushpendra Singh Hada will serve as Assistant Electoral Officer.
Expanded electoral college for September vote
The election will feature a broader voting body following the addition of the newly formed Didwana-Kuchaman, Balotra and Khairthal-Tijara district cricket associations. Their inclusion increases the number of district associations represented within the RCA from 33 to 36.
Former international cricketers Gagan Khoda and Pankaj Singh are also included on the electoral roll as player representatives.
District associations that do not currently have elected executives will participate through the convenors of their ad hoc committees. These include Rajesh Kumar Tambi for the Jaipur District Cricket Association and Rajesh Bishnoi for the Nagaur District Cricket Association.
Sawai Madhopur’s representatives, however, remain barred from participating or voting in the AGM under Rajasthan High Court orders issued on June 16, 2026, pending further judicial proceedings.
Election process begins with voter objections
The electoral timetable begins with objections to the voters’ list from September 12 to 14, followed by responses until September 16 and hearings on September 17 and 18. The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on September 22.
Candidates can submit nominations from September 23 through September 26. Scrutiny will take place on September 27, with the eligible candidate list due to be released at 5pm that day.
The withdrawal deadline falls on September 28, followed by publication of the final list of candidates at 6pm. Polling will then be conducted on September 29, with counting beginning immediately afterward.
AGM to address accounts and previous meeting
The election will form part of the RCA’s Annual General Meeting. In addition to choosing the new Apex Council, members will consider adopting the audited financial statements for the 2024–25 financial year and confirm the minutes of the Extraordinary General Body Meeting held on June 26, 2026.
The official election notice has also been sent to the Secretary and CEO of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as well as the Rajasthan State Sports Council and the Registrar of Co-operative Societies in Jaipur.
Completion of the September 29 process would give the RCA an elected executive committee for the first time in more than two years and conclude the association’s prolonged period of temporary administration.
