Rajasthan Royals, on Saturday, announced a trade that sees Nitish Rana move to Delhi Capitals and Donovan Ferreira rejoin the Royals ahead of IPL 2026.

Following the acquisitions of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, Donovan’s return adds more power, flexibility and finishing strength to the Royals’ batting options.

The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter has an overall T20 strike rate of more than 160 and can also bowl handy off-breaks.

“Donovan brings a mix of power-hitting and game awareness. He understands our environment and he fits the brand of cricket we want to play,” Kumar Sangakkara, Director of Cricket, Rajasthan Royals, said. “We’re delighted to have him back. At the same time, we thank Nitish for his contributions and wish him the very best.”

“It feels great to return to a familiar environment. I’ve had a good chat with Kumar and I’m looking forward to playing my role for the Royals,” said Donovan Ferreira.

The South African was part of the Rajasthan Royals setup for IPL 2024.
