Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has launched a new long-term community initiative called ‘RCB Cares’, starting with a ₹25 lakh financial commitment to each of the families of 11 fans who tragically passed away on June 4, 2025.

The tragedy, which shook the RCB community and the city of Bengaluru, left a deep impact on the franchise, its players, and its massive fan base known as the 12th Man Army. In response, RCB has promised not just monetary support, but a sustained commitment to healing, empowerment, and remembrance.

₹25 lakh to each family and a commitment to ongoing support

RCB announced that the families of each of the 11 fans will receive ₹25 lakh — not merely as compensation, but as a symbol of “compassion, unity, and ongoing care.”

“No amount of support can ever fill the space they’ve left behind,” the franchise said in an emotional statement. “But as a first step, and with the deepest respect, RCB has extended ₹25 lakh each to their families.”

RCB Cares: A community-first platform for healing and action

‘RCB Cares’ is designed to be more than just a relief measure. According to the franchise, the initiative was born out of reflection and grief — built in silence, but driven by purpose. The goal is to support, empower, and elevate the RCB fan community.

The initiative will focus on:

  • Creating safe and inclusive environments for fans at events and matches
  • Empowering communities with opportunities for growth and development
  • Investing in independent research on crowd safety and stadium infrastructure
  • Preserving and honouring fan memories in meaningful, personal ways
  • Promoting futures through sport, including youth programs and community development through cricket

“RCB Cares. And we always will.”

This initiative comes at a time when fan safety and engagement are becoming increasingly central to professional sports culture in India. RCB’s move is likely to serve as a template for how franchises can meaningfully connect with their communities in times of tragedy and beyond.

“This is our promise to every fan who has stood by RCB through every high and every heartbreak,” the statement concluded. “RCB Cares. And we always will.”
