Sachin Tendulkar has partnered with OpenAI in a collaboration that will see the cricket legend explore new ways of using ChatGPT and share what he discovers with a wider audience.
The partnership was announced by Tendulkar on X on Monday, although specific details of the collaboration and its upcoming initiatives have not yet been disclosed. The former India cricketer indicated that more is planned, with the partnership focused on exploring how ChatGPT can be applied to subjects and tasks that matter to individual users.
Tendulkar begins new OpenAI partnership
Tendulkar has already been using ChatGPT both to pursue his own interests and for practical purposes outside cricket. Announcing the collaboration, Sachin Tendulkar, former India cricketer, said on X: “I’m excited to announce my partnership with OpenAI. We have some interesting things coming up, and I can’t wait to share them with you.”
His personal experience with the platform has included using it to move between different questions as well as to help organise a recent family trip. Tendulkar said: “I’ve always been curious… One question usually leads to another, and ChatGPT has certainly encouraged that habit. But it has also proved useful when I’ve needed to get things done, like planning my last trip with the family.”

A video accompanying the announcement offered another example of Tendulkar interacting with ChatGPT. In the video, he challenges the chatbot to identify him by asking no more than 10 questions, with ChatGPT ultimately arriving at the correct answer.
Exploring more uses for ChatGPT
The collaboration will extend beyond Tendulkar’s existing experience with the platform. He plans to test other applications of ChatGPT, share the uses he finds valuable and encourage people to explore the technology through their own interests.
Tendulkar added: “That’s what I’m looking forward to with this partnership. Discovering what else I can do with ChatGPT, sharing what I find useful, and encouraging more people to give it a try with something they care about.”
The approach presented in the announcement positions individual curiosity and everyday tasks as starting points for interacting with the technology. Tendulkar continued: “A question, an idea, something you’ve always wanted to explore. There are so many places to start.”
The partnership brings together OpenAI with one of cricket’s most prominent former players. Tendulkar represented India internationally from 1989 until 2013, finishing his career with 34,357 international runs across 664 matches and 100 international centuries.
OpenAI builds its presence in India and cricket
Tendulkar’s collaboration comes during a broader expansion by OpenAI in India. The company said in February that the country had surpassed 100 million weekly ChatGPT users, spanning groups including students, teachers, developers and entrepreneurs.
OpenAI also launched its OpenAI for India initiative in February, encompassing AI access, education, workforce skills and local infrastructure. Its activity in the country has additionally included a partnership with Tata Group around AI-ready data centre capacity.
Cricket has also become part of OpenAI’s growing presence in the Indian market. The BCCI has brought ChatGPT on board for India’s home matches under an association scheduled to run until March 2028.
Tendulkar noted: “Looking forward to exploring together.”
The announcement adds a high-profile individual partnership to OpenAI’s existing activity around Indian cricket, with further details of the Tendulkar collaboration still to be revealed.
