India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast have been named the ICC Players of the Month for August 2025, following standout match-winning performances for their respective teams.
The awards, determined by a combination of fan voting and a specialist ICC panel, recognize the best male and female cricketers each month across all formats.
Mohammed Siraj wins for Oval heroics against England
Mohammed Siraj was honoured for his remarkable nine-wicket haul in the fifth Test against England at The Oval, where India secured a six-run victory and drew the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy series 2–2.
Siraj finished with four for 86 in the first innings and five for 104 in the second, including three crucial wickets on the final morning that sealed the result in one of the most intense Tests of the year.
“It is a special honour to be named ICC Player of the Month. Bowling against a top batting line-up in their home conditions was challenging, but it brought out the best in me,” Siraj said.
He added that the award belongs “as much to my teammates and the support staff” as to himself, and pledged to continue giving his best in an India jersey.
Siraj was chosen ahead of fellow nominees Matt Henry (New Zealand) and Jayden Seales (West Indies).
Orla Prendergast recognized for all-round excellence
Orla Prendergast claimed the women’s award following a series of dominant T20I performances that helped Ireland secure key wins over Pakistan and Zimbabwe, and a clean sweep at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier.
Across August, Prendergast scored 244 runs and took seven wickets, including 144 runs and four wickets in Ireland’s 2–1 home series win against Pakistan, where she was named Player of the Series.
“I’m delighted to receive this award and want to thank the ICC, everyone who voted, and my teammates and coaches for all the support this summer,” said Prendergast.
She reflected on the significance of the moment, saying:
“This award validates my decision to pursue cricket professionally. Visibility is so important for growing the women’s game, and moments like this inspire the next generation of girls to play and dream big.”
Prendergast won ahead of Muneeba Ali (Pakistan) and Iris Zwilling (Netherlands).
