Sunrisers Hyderabad have significantly increased ticket prices for their upcoming IPL 2026 fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, with several categories recording hikes ranging between 50% and 110%, according to reports. The May 22 clash is expected to carry major playoff implications and has generated massive demand as online bookings opened, with tickets selling out within minutes.

Ticket prices that had previously ranged between INR 950 (approx. US$10) and INR 30,000 (approx. US$313) were revised to a new bracket of INR 2,000 (approx. US$21) to INR 45,000 (approx. US$469) for the high-profile encounter. Reports also stated that the online waiting queue crossed 260,000 users shortly after sales went live.

Several seating categories see major price jumps

Among the steepest increases were the upper-tier tickets, which rose from INR 900 (approx. US$9) to INR 2,000 (approx. US$21), representing a 110% increase. South First Terrace seats were doubled from INR 1,500 (approx. US$16) to INR 3,000 (approx. US$31).

Other categories also saw notable revisions ahead of the fixture. Tickets previously sold at INR 1,910 (approx. US$20) were repriced at INR 3,500 (approx. US$36), while INR 2,500 (approx. US$26) seats increased to INR 4,500 (approx. US$47). Mid-tier pricing also moved upward, with INR 4,500 (approx. US$47) tickets rising to INR 6,000 (approx. US$63), while INR 7,000 (approx. US$73) seats increased to INR 10,000 (approx. US$104).

Premium hospitality inventory also recorded substantial increases. Corporate box pricing climbed from INR 30,000 (approx. US$313) to INR 45,000 (approx. US$469), while another premium category increased from INR 23,000 (approx. US$240) to INR 30,000 (approx. US$313).

RCB demand continues to drive secondary-market activity

The fixture is expected to attract one of the biggest crowds of the season, with Virat Kohli remaining one of the IPL’s strongest commercial attractions despite stepping away from Test and T20I cricket in recent years. The revised pricing structure also triggered strong reactions online from fans and local social media personalities.

Demand surrounding RCB fixtures has also contributed to rising resale activity in the wider IPL ticketing market. According to an Indian Express report, Delhi Police arrested four individuals as part of an investigation into an alleged black-ticketing operation connected to a Delhi Capitals-RCB fixture, with authorities also examining the possible involvement of a DDCA official.

A source close to Delhi Police reportedly told Indian Express, “Before the Royal Challengers Bengaluru game, with Virat Kohli the major attraction, they charged at least Rs 80,000 for one ticket. We also learnt that the price ranged from Rs 8,000 to Rs 80,000, depending on the match and the demand.”

The reported resale prices would place some unofficial tickets between INR 8,000 (approx. US$83) and INR 80,000 (approx. US$833), underlining the extraordinary demand surrounding marquee IPL fixtures involving Bengaluru and Kohli.

Playoff race adds further commercial value

The Hyderabad-Bengaluru clash arrives at a crucial stage of the IPL 2026 season, with both teams firmly involved in the playoff race. Sunrisers Hyderabad remain in contention for a top-two finish despite suffering a heavy defeat against Gujarat Titans in their previous match, while defending champions RCB are closing in on qualification.

The commercial response surrounding the fixture highlights how high-stakes late-season contests featuring major franchises and star players continue to strengthen the IPL’s ticketing and matchday revenue potential.
