USA Cricket has approved a set of key constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening governance, improving athlete representation, and aligning with the standards of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).

The amendments were ratified during the official voting period from May 28 to June 3, 2025, with vote certification handled by an external auditor. The reforms mark a major step forward in USA Cricket’s efforts to ensure compliance with USOPC governance requirements and to build a more inclusive structure for athletes and stakeholders.

Key constitutional amendments approved

Among the significant changes passed by USA Cricket membership:

  • Section 7.4.A.i: Amended to specify that two USA Cricket Athlete Directors will serve as Team USA Athlete’s Commission Primary and Alternate Representatives.
    Approved with 70.8% support
  • Section 7.5.A: Revised to mandate that the two remaining Athlete Directors (not serving as Commission Reps) include one male and one female.
    Approved with 68.5% support
  • Section 7.6.A: Deleted and its contents moved to Appendix A, removing the listing of individual Director names.
    Approved with 69.29% support
  • Section 7.6.B: Updated to remove gender-based language and ensure consistency with revisions to Section 7.4.A.i.
    Approved with 69.88% support

These changes support the formation of USA Cricket’s inaugural Athlete’s Advisory Council and pave the way for the election of four Athlete Directors to the Board in June 2025.

Leadership and compliance priorities

Venu Pisike, Chair of USA Cricket, emphasized the importance of this milestone:

“By aligning our governance with international best practices and USOPC requirements, we are laying the foundation for a stronger and more inclusive future for cricket in the United States.”

He added that these revisions were crucial to ensure the creation of a compliant Athlete’s Advisory Council and to give athletes meaningful representation within the organization’s decision-making structure.

Next steps: Athlete elections and council formation

With the amendments now ratified, USA Cricket will immediately begin preparations for the election of Athlete Directors and the appointment of additional members to the Athlete’s Advisory Council. This council will play a central role in shaping policies and guiding the athlete experience at both domestic and international levels.
