With The Hundred currently underway, Welsh Fire Women is proud to announce a new partnership with Admiral aimed at creating greater opportunities for women and girls by connecting them with skills, networks and career pathways in industries where women remain underrepresented.
The partnership will harness the growing reach and influence of women’s cricket to inspire the next generation and help address barriers that continue to limit female representation in sectors such as automotive, engineering and technology.
Through the partnership, Welsh Fire, Admiral and a network of employers, educators and community organisations will:
- Provide access to skills development workshops and events, helping participants build confidence, employability skills and career awareness.
- Deliver mentoring and networking opportunities, connecting women and girls with role models from sport and business.
- Bring together Admiral’s motor repair supply chain, partner organisations and wider business network to support greater female representation across multiple sectors.
Building on Admiral’s existing social value partnership with Glamorgan Cricket, the collaboration aims to turn inspiration into action by creating practical pathways into meaningful careers and widening access to opportunities for women and girls.
The initiative also strengthens Welsh Fire’s commitment to creating positive social impact through sport. By working alongside Admiral and its extensive network of partners and suppliers, the programme aims to deliver lasting benefits that extend beyond the cricket pitch.
Ed Rice, Commercial Director at Glamorgan Cricket: “Women’s cricket has shown what can happen when organisations invest in opportunity, visibility and pathways for talent.
“The challenges may be different, but there are clear parallels with the automotive industry. By bringing sport and business together, we can share ideas, learn from one another and help create environments where more women can succeed.”
Michelle Leavesley, Chief Sustainability Officer at Admiral Group, said: “Through this partnership, we can learn from the growth of women’s cricket and apply those insights across our supply chain.
“While cricket and garages may seem very different, we’ve identified similarities in areas such as recruitment, leadership and creating inclusive environments that are helping to shape future programmes.
“Together, we want to help more women see a future in traditionally underrepresented careers, creating pathways into skills, employment and leadership that benefit individuals, businesses and communities for years to come.”
