Katie Maier is shaping how MCC connects with fans and elevates women’s cricket at one of the sport’s most iconic venues. As Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, she has been preparing Lord’s for a landmark summer, including the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup final and the first-ever women’s Test at the ground. “It’s a pivotal year at Lord’s, and hosting the first women’s Test in our history, 50 years after the first international, is an incredibly historic moment,” she says. Under her leadership, MCC has already surpassed attendance expectations for marquee events, reflecting growing interest in the women’s game.

Her focus is on broadening engagement while maintaining MCC’s traditions. Maier emphasizes the crossover between established fans and new audiences, ensuring experiences are inclusive for families and newcomers alike. “A lot of it will come down to the quality of the cricket, the performances on the field…we’re starting to see great crossover,” she notes. She also highlights the influence of events like The Hundred, which help introduce audiences to international fixtures.

Maier’s marketing career spans decades across sports and events, from The Jockey Club and Royal Caribbean Cruises to consulting for England’s women’s hockey. She brings that experience to initiatives such as the London Spirit rebrand. “We needed to understand what the fan wants—both current and future,” she explains, illustrating her focus on balancing commercial strategy with heritage.

As a female executive in a traditionally male-dominated environment, Maier highlights the importance of visible leadership. “If you see it, you can believe it…having Claire Conner as the first female president was a pivotal moment for MCC.” She encourages young women entering cricket to embrace confidence and participation: “Be brave, be confident, put yourself out there…bring the confidence that goes with it.”

With nearly two decades of marketing experience and now several years at MCC, Katie Maier is driving a fan-focused transformation for all dimensions of the game while also supporting the growth of women’s cricket. Her work ensures that historic moments at Lord’s are not only well-presented but also resonate with audiences, shaping the future of the sport at its most iconic venue.
