Yashasvi Jaiswal has entered the IPL record books by becoming the fifth-fastest player to score 2000 runs in the Indian Premier League, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in the process.
The 23-year-old Rajasthan Royals opener reached the milestone in just 62 innings after scoring an unbeaten 70 off 40 balls in an eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday.
Jaiswal enters elite company in IPL history
Jaiswal needed 37 runs heading into the match to reach the 2000-run mark and did so with ease, becoming the fifth-fastest batter overall and third-fastest Indian to reach the landmark.
He overtook Sachin Tendulkar, who reached 2000 IPL runs in 63 innings. The list of the fastest to 2000 IPL runs now reads:
Rank | Player | Innings |
---|---|---|
1 | Chris Gayle | 48 |
2 | Shaun Marsh | 52 |
3 | Ruturaj Gaikwad | 57 |
4 | KL Rahul | 60 |
5 | Yashasvi Jaiswal | 62 |
6 | Sachin Tendulkar | 63 |
