Melbourne Renegades captain Jess Duffin has capped off a campaign to remember after being voted the club’s WBBL|05 Player of the Season by its members.

It’s further reason for Duffin to celebrate, for it follows the news her and husband Chris are expecting their first child in 2020.

In her first season as captain, Duffin was one of the standout players across the entire WBBL competition.

Her 544 runs in the middle order included five 50s and 15 sixes, and she finished not out in five of her 13 innings.

She was regularly a cool head in a crisis, steadying her side before hitting out later in the innings. Further to that, she regularly partnered with youngsters Josie Dooley and Courtney Webb, who went on to play some vital hands of their own as the season went by.

Duffin’s extraordinary feats were recognised when she was chosen as the captain of the WBBL|05 Team of the Tournament.

The 30-year-old also plays football for AFLW side North Melbourne, making her one of the finest dual sport athletes in the country.

The Renegades sincerely wish Jess and Chris every happiness as they prepare for parenthood, and congratulate Jess on another wonderful season as a Renegade.
