ACB Chairman Farhan Yusefzai met national players today at ACB Headquarters in Kabul. Addressing the players, Mr Yusefzai said that we have a strong team that has the ability to beat any opposition. He expressed confidence that the team is well prepared for the upcoming Asia Cup and T20 World Cup this year considering their preparations and camps conducted.

Yusefzai said that the national cricket team has been a source of pride for Afghanistan which has also been equally reciprocated well by ACB. He further added that it is time some of the senior players think about their future and post-retirement plans so that they are used accordingly for the betterment of Afghan Cricket.

He added that like an Olympic torch, the senior players should hand over their responsibility and share experience with youngsters and pass it on.

He requested the players to respect the decisions of the selection committee and share their concerns with the committee and ACB leadership if they have any.

Chief selector Andy Moles and ACB CEO Lutfullah Stanikzai also addressed the players. Mr. Moles said that a 15-member squad will be selected soon for the series against Ireland after which five more players will be added so that players start their preparations for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup and feel self-confident having their roles specified.

Mr. Staniikzai said that those players who are left out of the national squad will be included in Afghanistan-A and Afghanistan Emerging teams who have many matches scheduled for this year. Stanikzai also said that it is important for these players to participate in domestic cricket since it is a platform where they can share their valuable experience with the youngsters and thereby, elevate the standard of domestic cricket. He further added that a Coach and an assistant coach has been appointed for each region. He said that the players should make full use of the available facilities in their respective regions and Kabul’s indoor academy which will be further enhanced in the coming days.
