State, BBL and International stars past and present will do battle on Sunday in the Final of the Kookaburra One Day Competition at Allan Border Field.
Redlands, featuring breakout Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne, will take on a Northern Suburbs line-up including Test opener Joe Burns and former Australian spinner Nathan Hauritz in the limited overs championship decider.
Labuschagne is coming off a match-defining 167 for Queensland in their opening Marsh Sheffield Shield win over Tasmania in Adelaide earlier this week and will complement a powerful Tigers squad that includes fellow Bulls players Jimmy Peirson, Sam Heazlett and former Queensland and Tasmanian allrounder Simon Milenko.
Burns is averaging 64 for the Vikings so far this season, while Bulls squad teammate Nathan McSweeney is averaging 106.25 with the bat so far, as well as taking 13 wickets.
Hauritz, who played 17 Tests and 58 ODIs in his international career, brings plenty of composure to the crease with the ball, backing a youthful Norths attack led by Queensland rookie contracted quick Connor Sully who has 15 wickets at 18.57 to date.
Sully will be joined by fellow Queensland Youth pacemen Noah McFadyen, whose older brother Connor was a part of the Brisbane Lions squad this season before injury intervened, and Will Prestwidge, younger brother of ex-Heat quick Jack and WBBL Heat pace bowler Georgia.
Captain Kendel Fleming is coming off an unbeaten match-winning hundred in the semi-final while hard-hitting top order batsman Josh Brown has also been amongst the runs of late.
Undefeated Redlands head into the Final with two bonus point wins in their three regular competition games as well as a comfortable eight-wicket win over Gold Coast in the semi-final.
Milenko, who returned home during the winter after several seasons playing State cricket for Tasmania and BBL with the Hurricanes, has several in-form players to call on as well.
Allrounder James Bazley, who is a former Queensland contracted and Hurricanes player, top order batsman Liam Smith and wicket-keeper Leigh Drennan have all impressed for the Tigers this season.
Admission is free. Fans will be asked to observe appropriates social distancing measures and to follow COVID-19 protocols as requested upon entry.
