The Hurricanes have added international Colin Ingram to their squad.

South African power-hitter, Colin Ingram, is the Hobart Hurricanes latest international signing for BBL|10.

The man nicknamed ‘Bulldozer’ is no stranger to the KFC Big Bash League, having starred for the Adelaide Strikers’ top order in the seventh and eighth editions of the League.  Ingram played 25 games for the Strikers, scoring 610 runs at an average of 30.5 and strike rate of 138.95. He also led the side on 14 occasions, when Captain, Travis Head, was on international duties.

After a taking a break in BBL|09, Ingram will return to the League in purple.

Ingram said he was excited to take part in the BBL again, a T20 tournament that has a prestigious reputation among international players.

“It’s widely followed,” Ingram reiterated.  “People here in South Africa, and also the UK, wake up early in the morning that time of the year and get some exciting evening cricket in from Australia, [so] it’s a fantastic brand.”

“It’s absolutely awesome news to have signed up with the Hobart Hurricanes,” Ingram continued. “[I’m] really excited to get out and play cricket again.”

“The BBL holds fond memories for me playing in Australia.  Unfortunately I didn’t play last year, but the two years before…it was fantastic to be playing in such a prestigious tournament, and that time of the year Australia all buzzing for cricket so it’s going to be great to get out and be part of that again.”

Hurricanes Head Coach, Adam Griffith, said it was fantastic to add a player of Ingram’s calibre to his squad.

“Colin is a very experienced player who has had great success in past editions of the Big Bash League.  Although he won’t be with us for the whole tournament, he will provide stability and explosive power to our batting order before Dawid joins the group.”

Hobart Hurricanes General Manager, Scott Barnes, said it was exciting for the club to sign another big international name, to add to an already strong core nucleus of players.

“The news that Colin is joining our club shows that we are not only developing an exciting brand of cricket on-field for our fans, but a great culture off-field as well for players who want to become a part of the Hurricanes family.

“With it being announced last week that the Hurricanes first four games of BBL|10 will be played in Tasmania, this is a fantastic opportunity for Tasmanian cricket fans to see some of the game’s biggest names in action in their own backyard.”

Ingram will arrive in Hobart in time for the Hurricanes’ first game against the Sydney Sixers, at Blundstone Arena on December 10.
