The PCB wishes to explain the reasons for hosting the two-day CCA tournament in July-August which is currently being staged across the six PCB Cricket Associations which include Balochistan, Central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northern, Sindh and Southern Punjab.

  • The PCB wanted to host the tournament in May-June, but due to Covid-19 situation and lockdowns in various cities, it was forced to schedule the event in July-August.
  • Before finalising the schedule, the PCB High Performance consulted the Met Office on possible monsoon rains. They were told that the monsoon season was likely to take full toll during the second week of August and comparatively fewer rains were expected from mid-July to first week of August.
  • The two-day tournament is a platform for players to feature in the First XI and Second XI teams in the domestic cricket season. Completion of the CCA tournaments in time before the commencement of the domestic season will allow the respective coaches to identify the players who would form their squads in the 2021-22 season rather than relying solely on an open trial system.
