Cricket PNG held its Annual General Meeting. The Audited Financial Statements and Management Reports from 2020 were presented and were unanimously accepted by all.
After 10 years on the Cricket PNG Board, most recently as Deputy Chair, Rio Fiocco, retired, leaving a vacancy to be filled. Helen Macindoe, Chair of Cricket PNG, expressed her gratitude for the many years of service Fiocco has given to Cricket PNG and the important part he has played in the transformation of the organisation in that time.
Elected to the Cricket PNG Board for the first time filling the vacancy is Chetan Chopra, who has extensive governance experience and has been involved in an informal capacity with cricket for many years.
Under the Cricket PNG Constitution, the Board Members then gathered after the AGM and conducted a secondary voting process to determine who would fill the various officer roles. Helen Macindoe was re-elected as Chair of Cricket PNG. Mick Harrison was elected as Deputy Chair. Phillippe Allen was elected as Secretary. Paul Kiruwi was re-elected as Treasurer. Tico Narara was elected to lead Female Cricket Development. Chetan Chopra was elected to lead Infrastructure Development. All positions were elected unanimously. Robin Dogia was re-elected at the AGM by the Associations to continue to serve as their representative on the Cricket PNG Board.
Macindoe talked enthusiastically on the new Board, noting “After a challenging couple of years, I hope in the next year we would be able to play more cricket, regroup and continue implementing CPNG’s strategic plan. While it is a big loss to have Rio Fiocco retire, it is exciting to bring on someone with the experience of Chetan Chopra. I’m also looking forward to working more closely with Mick Harrison as the new Deputy Chair.”
