Hobart Hurricanes: Purple partnership extended

The Hobart Hurricanes and CADBURY have extended their proud partnership, with the Tasmanian chocolate maker’s iconic logo to take pride of place on the men’s and women’s playing shirts for another two Big Bash seasons.

General Manager of the Hobart Hurricanes, Scott Barnes, said the club was delighted to continue the partnership with CADBURY and looks forward to joining in the celebrations alongside their 100 Years of operation in Tasmania next year.

“It’s fantastic to join with Cadbury and extend our strong partnership for another two years,” said Barnes. “Their work with us as major partner of the Hobart Hurricanes male and female programs, and on our work in the community, is highly valued by everyone at Cricket Tasmania.”

“Both our organisations have a long history in Tasmania, and it’s great to be part of Cadbury celebrating their hundredth year in our state next year.”

Furthermore, as part of its long and proud history supporting Australian sport, CADBURY will also launch the CADBURY A Catch & a Half program. During home matches at the Blundstone Area this season, CADBURY will make a $500 donation to the Hobart Hurricanes to support local cricket clubs for every catch taken by a Hurricanes player that results in a wicket.

Four Tasmanian cricket clubs – Brighton District Cricket Club, Port Sorell Cricket Club, Westbury Cricket Club and the ACL Cricket Club in Mowbray – have been selected for the 2021-22 season and will receive funds to support the purchase of new uniforms, training equipment, club house repairs and other resources to support grassroots cricket.

“The work of Cadbury to support four well-deserving clubs really highlights their commitment to the community that they operate in. Generations of Tasmanians have a connection to Cadbury – be  it through past or present family and friends working at their Tasmanian site, or simply childhood memories of factory tours – and it’s clear just how strong their connection to the state is,” said Barnes.

“In 1922 the Cadbury brothers opened our factory in Claremont, Tasmania, the first outside of the United Kingdom. 100 years on – we’re exceptionally proud to make our chocolate here and call Tasmania home,” said CADBURY Marketing Manager, Jess Finger.

“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the men’s and women’s teams and extend our support to the Hobart Hurricanes to drive further impact across grassroots cricket. With over 300 clubs and 15,000 active players, coaches and officials across the state, cricket is clearly a passion-point among Tasmanians – perhaps only second to their love for our chocolate.”
