Former Assistant Coach Peter Ross has been appointed as interim Head Coach for the Women’s National Team from today replacing former Head Coach Mark Coles. who returned to Australia earlier this year.

Peter has been appointed up to and including the ICC Womens T20 World Cup Global Qualifier which the ICC have intimated are likely to be in September.

Key to Peter’s appointment is his past experience with the National Team and the current squad having been Assistant Coach up to 2020. During his spell in that role, the women competed in several ICC Global qualifying events and won the ICC T20 European Qualifier in 2017.

Being located in Scotland, he will lead and deliver both the national team programme and the training programme of the Scottish based players. One of Peter’s first tasks will be to appoint an interim Assistant Coach to the national team.

Commenting on the appointment, Peter said “It’s a privilege to be asked to oversee the National Women’s team programme during this interim period.

“I have seen first-hand how the squad has gone from strength to strength over the past couple of years, highlighted by the exceptional domestic performances during last years Women’s Super Series and winning the Women’s T20 World Cup European Qualifier in La Manga during August.

“The players continue to break new ground for female cricketers in Scotland and I am really excited to help them continue to unleash their potential.”

Scotland women will play Fairbreak in late August and will then prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup global qualifying tournament due to be announced in April.
