Clydesdale CC and Ayr CC are to host the Tri Series between Scotland, Namibia and Nepal from 10th – 17th July as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, Cricket Scotland has announced.

The last time the teams were in action on Scottish soil saw some hard-fought games, which look set to be repeated this summer with six thrilling fixtures in the calendar.

With Scotland currently sitting second in the table, Namibia occupying fourth and Nepal in sixth position, there is much to play for.

Nepal have only visited Scotland once before in 2015 when they played two rain affected matches at New Cambusdoon, resulting in two victories for the Scotland side.

Namibia have been more frequent visitors, first visiting Mannofield in 2006 where they suffered an innings defeat in a four-day Intercontinental Cup game.

Scotland and Namibia met in a further Intercontinental Cup game during the 2017 season – a draw being the ultimate result.

The teams then travelled to Portgower Place to play two one-day games which saw Scotland win the first game by 51 runs, thanks to an innings of 110 by Richie Berrington. Namibia eventually triumphed by 50 runs after scoring 324 for 5, despite an innings of 112 by Kyle Coetzer.

Fixtures Schedule

10th July – Scotland vs Namibia (Titwood)
11th July – Namibia vs Nepal (New Cambusdoon)
13th July – Scotland vs Nepal (Titwood)
14th July – Scotland vs Namibia (Titwood)

17th July – Scotland vs Nepal (Titwood)

All start times are 11am the matches will also be able to view on www.icc.tv.  Tickets for all matches will be available via the cricket Scotland website from Wednesday 1st June.

A club spokesperson from Ayr said: “Ayr Cricket Club is absolutely delighted to have been asked to again host ICC ODI matches at Cambusdoon. We are very much looking forward to what promises to be two exciting games of cricket and to welcoming the players, coaching staff and supporters of both Namibia and Nepal to Ayrshire. We wish all three teams the very best for this CWCL2 fixture, which is so important for qualification ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup hosted in India in less than 12 months’ time.”

Jatinder Dhami, Clydesdale Cricket Project Manager said: “We are excited that international cricket is returning to Titwood. It’s great for the club and the west. It offers groundsman Martin McAllister an opportunity to showcase the venue. We are sure the local cricket community will support the games.”
