Bio

Melanie “Mel” Jones is an English-born Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer. Jones was a member of Australia’s women’s national cricket team from 1998-2005. 

Jones has held numerous roles subsequent to her playing career. On the administrative side, she is a Director at Cricket Australia, which she joined in December 2019. Jones also has extensive history with sports commentary. Currently she is a commentator for several sports channels and stations such as; FOX SPORTS Australia, 1116 SEN, SKY, BBC and others. In 2015, Jones was announced as one of four female commentators to commentate on the 2015 Indian Premier League.

Previously, Jones was a Talent Manager with Elite Sports Properties, and worked closely with some of Australia’s best female talent across team and individual sports as well as a host of Australian cricketers and Olympians. Jones has served as an ambassador and supporter of Red Dust – a non-profit which focuses on health initiatives in Australian Aboriginal communities – and a member of the Bowls Australia Board. 

Jones is a graduate of Victoria University where she received her Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement in 1997.
