Wanderers Sports Medical Centre (WSMC) grow by four this Women’s month to further empower, equip and enable the valued Lions Pride players this season and beyond.

The Wanderers Sports Medical Centre in partnership with Lions Cricket are proud to welcome four new recruits namely Sheenagh Jordaan (Physiotherapist) , Dr Dhavina Naidoo (Sport Physician), Dr Nthabiseng Maesela (Sport Physician) and Inge Konig (Biokineticist).

The appointments, co-incidentally confirmed in Women’s Month are indicative of the transformational journey that both brands find themselves on, empowering women in the workplace whilst breaking new ground at the same time.

CGL President Anne Vilas, who is the only female President in Domestic Cricket, says that the expansion of WSMC is exactly what is needed for the Lions Cricket eco system to step up another level and that the growth of the women’s game is a key focus area of Lions Cricket.

“I warmly welcome these ladies to our home and am grateful to have their expertise, love of sport and high standards backing the Lions Way on field and off it. Each lady has been vetted and put to the test by world class practitioner  Craig Govender whom honestly is simply unrivalled. Our players, staff and the public at large are most fortunate to enjoy the world class facility, experts and attention to detail that is Wanderers Sports Medical Centre.”

Craig Govender says that these appointments are ground breaking, particularly to the development of the women’s game. Continuity of player well-being throughout the year is key to being number one.

“With immediate effect, CGL will have a physiotherapist solely appointed to the women’s teams, primarily to develop the structures and protocols at a high performance level. The new recruits join us having already developed a good foundation within the field of sport medicine, and thus will harmoniously integrate within the Lions ecosystem. We wish the Physiotherapist, Sports Physician’s and Biokineticist the very best in their new home.”

The Wanderers Sports Medical Centre is open to the public, with all walk-ins welcome and currently house the following practitioners:

  • Podiatry, Chiropractors, Homeopaths, Dentist, Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, Sports Physician, Orthotist and Prosthetist, Biokinetics, Dieticians, Physiotherapists.
