CSA confirms the 2022/23 domestic squads

Must Read

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed the squads from the fifteen provincial teams for the 2022/23 domestic season.

The 2022/23 CSA Domestic season promises to be an exciting one yet, as the promotion and relegation system will commence when this season concludes.

A fifteen-team professional set-up came to life last season when CSA introduced the new two- division structure. The eight-team top-tier division will see the team with the least points relegated as the top team in the bottom-tier gets promoted.

The Momentum Multiply Titans led the standings at the conclusion of year one in Division One. This comes after claiming the CSA Four-Day series and losing out on two finals in the CSA T20 Challenge and CSA One-Day Cup.

DP World Lion seat at number two with twenty-three points, with the CSA One Day Cup trophy whilst the Gbets Rocks follow with nineteen points as CSA T20 Challenge champions.

Gbets Warriors, Six Gun Grill Western Province, Hollywoodbets Dolphins, North West Dragons, and ITEC Knights follow the standings in that order.

In Division Two, CSA 4-Day series champions and One Day Cup finalists, Northern Cape Heat top the log with twenty-five points.

Tuskers, the reigning One Day Cup champions come second with twenty-two points, followed by Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers (Formerly known as Six Gun Grill SWD), Eastern Cape Iinyathi, Mpumalanga Rhinos, Limpopo Impalas and Eastern Storm.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki commented on the formidable list of squads in what promises to be an action-packed season.

“This is an exciting time for cricket and sport supporters in South Africa. The 2022/23 season has a massive cricket calendar, with two women’s world cups coming to our shores and the T20 League commencing in January 2023.

“We are intentional in strengthening domestic cricket, as it is the hub for our stars who continue to emerge from these ranks to the national team. Domestic cricket has also proved to attract massive following across the country, a testament that our valued fans have warmly embraced the new domestic structure as action-packed and entertaining,” Moseki concluded.

This season, Division One teams will participate in the CSA T20 Challenge, the CSA Four-Day Series and the CSA One Day Cup.

Division Two teams will play in CSA T20 Knockout, the CSA Four-Day Series and the CSA One Day Cup.

The Domestic Fixtures for the 2022/23 season will be released on Friday, 09 September 2022.
