Are you a cricket lover and want to be involved in our great game? If the answer is yes, WA Cricket would like to hear from you, with the search for Umpires for Season 2023-24 in full swing.
Umpires play a crucial role in the game of cricket and without their involvement, the game simply doesn’t run as smoothly.
WA Cricket Umpire Manager Luke Douglas said “The game needs good umpires to ensure the experience for all players, coaches, volunteers, and supporters is as good as it can be.
“At WA Cricket we will teach all new umpires the Laws of Cricket as well as training them in other skills such as player and match management, communication and the fieldcraft of being an umpire.
“Once the umpires are on the field, we have a team of coaches, observers, and mentors to support the umpire through their journey into and through the Umpiring Pathway. “
With the Ashes just around the corner and the growth of Women’s cricket in recent years, Douglas believes there is no better time to be involved in the game.
“It’s an exciting season to be involved in cricket with the men’s and women’s Ashes series about to begin and the World Cup later this year bringing more training and development opportunities for our next wave of umpires.”
As for our future umpires? WA Cricket invites you to be apart of the fun.
“We welcome anyone into our umpire family, male, female, young, old, cricket novice or cricket tragic, if you want to umpire, we’ll train you and find you a competition to umpire in.” Douglas said.
“Umpiring is a great way to be involved in the game, see WA’s upcoming talent from the best seat in the house and earn money doing it.”
