The Brisbane Heat will head into this year’s Big Bash drafts for the KFC BBL and Weber WBBL with confidence following today’s release of their drafting order picks.

The BBL will hold its overseas player draft for the second time, while the WBBL will introduce its inaugural draft for international recruits.

Both drafts will be held on Sunday, September 3, and broadcast on Fox Cricket.

After finishing second in the BBL and third in the WBBL, the Heat gained their expected drafting positions when the weighted lotteries were held on Friday to determine the order of selections.

The WBBL Heat was awarded sixth pick in their opening round and the BBL Heat gained seventh choice in the men’s first round.

For each competition, the clubs who missed out on Finals last season were selected from the first draw with the remaining Clubs entered into the second draw.

The Weber WBBL and KFC BBL Overseas Player Drafts will follow the same guidelines and format.

The Drafts will feature four rounds, with clubs able to select a minimum of two and maximum of three players in total, each Club will be required to pass in at least one round.

Rounds 1 and 2 will follow the respective orders stated above, with Rounds 3 and 4 following a snaking order.

The League has also introduced the ability for Clubs to trade Draft picks which could result in changes to the order.

Clubs will have the ability to retain one player as part of the drafting process.

Both Drafts will be broadcast on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports on Sunday, September 3, with the WBBL Draft kicking off at 3.00pm AEST and immediately followed by the BBL Draft at 4.30pm AEST.

Further details about the Big Bash Overseas Player Drafts, including player nominations, will be released in the coming weeks.
