This Women’s Month, and in recognition of the phenomenal contribution that women have made in elevating the status of women’s cricket, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announces a series of women in cricket content. Dubbed “Women Behind the Game“, the series will feature women from various corners of the country, who have worked hard to inspire, motivate, and administer women’s cricket – with a focus on unearthing the next bloom of women cricketers. Set to run for the entire Women’s Month, the series is geared to acknowledge and profile women who made an ineradicable contribution in the women’s cricket space over many years. Featured women will share captivating and heartwarming accounts of selflessness, sacrifices and demolished challenges, which have contributed towards the elevation of women’s cricket. The series will chronicle women who made a mark in the playing field; those who crossed over from player to administrator; and those who advocated for the upliftment of women’s cricket at times when it was not fashionable to do so. While the series would not be exhaustive of all the women who shaped women’s cricket in South Africa, it will provide a glimpse into the depth and calibre of the women who changed the status quo and extended the landscape of women’s cricket to a global reach. CSA Chief Executive, Pholetsi Moseki commented: “We are extremely proud to be celebrating Women’s Month with this exciting series. There are countless women who have, in various ways, contributed to the growth of the stature of women’s cricket in South Africa. “The series will cast a spotlight on these unsung heroines and allow us to celebrate them. It’ll also mirror back strides made by CSA in ensuring that women’s cricket continues to grow, inspired by the women who will be in focus. This will be a fitting tribute to women who over time, set out to change the trajectory of this beautiful game and achieved just that.”
