Cricket South Africa (CSA) is pleased to announce that the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy will make its way to the African continent.

The trophy tour displays and activities will celebrate the sport’s inclusivity and its power to unite diverse communities.

Launched in space to kick start the campaign, the coveted trophy will embark on an African celebration tour, allowing cricket lovers from the continent to get up close and personal with this iconic symbol of victory.

The tour will kick off in Uganda from Sunday, 27 August 2023, travel to Nigeria on Tuesday, 29 August 2023, before making its way to South Africa (SA) on 01 September.

The trophy, in its storied history, will be in South Africa between 01 – 04 September 2023, in four provinces, namely – Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Free State. It will stop at major cities, cultural landmarks, and iconic stadiums, uniting the nation in the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Schools, community organizations, and clubs will also have the chance to engage in educational programs and events tied to the trophy tour.

“We are thrilled to announce the arrival of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy in the continent,” said CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki.

“The trophy represents the pinnacle of achievement in world cricket, and the tour will provide an opportunity for fans to connect with the rich history of the sport and feel the excitement of the upcoming World Cup.

“It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the global cricket community and share in the anticipation of this remarkable event,” said Moseki.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy tour will culminate in a grand celebration at the 3rd T20I between the Proteas and Australia at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead, where fans can join in the festivities and bid farewell to the trophy before it continues its journey to inspire cricket fans worldwide.
