Evergreen fast bowler Peter Siddle is heading back to where his Big Bash career began, signing on with the Melbourne Renegades for BBL|13.

Siddle will call Marvel Stadium home once again, after spending the last six seasons with the Adelaide Strikers.

He previously represented the Renegades in BBL|03 and BBL|04.

The former Australian fast bowler has played 79 BBL matches and taken 96 wickets across his two clubs.

Siddle was the competition’s leading wicket-taker in BBL|11 – with 30 wickets across that campaign – and has captained the Strikers on 27 occasions.

Highly-regarded across the competition not just for his on-field ability, but his leadership and tactical nous, Siddle is looking forward to bringing his experience to a new group.

“I’m excited to be returning to where my Big Bash journey started and to be back in red this year,” Siddle said.

“I’ve loved my time in Adelaide over the last six seasons. But it’s time for a new challenge, and I’m looking forward to reuniting with some good mates of mine at the Renegades.

“Looking at the playing list that’s being assembled, there’s no reason we can’t challenge for the title this year.

“Whether it’s with ball in hand, supporting the bowling group or helping the younger players on the list develop, I’ll be doing everything I can to help the Renegades have success.”

Siddle’s signing follows the addition of off-season spin bowling recruits Adam Zampa and Nathan Lyon, as the Renegades add further experience to a bowling line-up featuring the likes of Kane Richardson and Tom Rogers.

“We’ve made a concerted effort to add more experience to our playing list this off-season, so to welcome ‘Sidds’ back to the Renegades, alongside the additions of Adam Zampa and Nathan Lyon is a fantastic result,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“’Sidds’ is well respected not just for his contributions with the ball over a long period of time, but for his leadership, tactical awareness and broader knowledge of players and the T20 landscape.

“He has plenty of existing relationships within our playing group and we know he will be an important contributor for us not only on the field, but with all the other attributes he brings that help build successful teams.”

The Renegades will begin their BBL|13 campaign on December 8 against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG, with their first home game on December 10 against the Perth Scorchers in Geelong.
