Opening batter Tom Rogers has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the Stars that will keep him at the club until at least the end of BBL|14.

Rogers burst onto the scene as a replacement player during the Stars covid-affected season and played every game in BBL|12 as a replacement for injured captain Glenn Maxwell.

The left hander impressed at the top of the order, scoring 324 runs including a match winning innings of 51* against the Strikers at the MCG.

The left hander was rewarded with his first Victorian contract.

“Tom’s perseverance and subsequent rise is one of the best stories in the BBL, from being a last minute covid replacement to now being rewarded with his first contract for the Stars,” said General Manager Blair Crouch.

“We’re excited to see what he can do at the top of the order, he’s made a very solid white ball start for Victoria this summer and we look forward to seeing it continue at the MCG.”
