Queensland Cricket has expressed its condolences to the family and friends of one of Queensland junior cricket’s stalwarts, Glyn Netto, following his passing earlier this week.

Netto was renowed for his dedication to Brisbane North Junior Cricket, particularly Wilston-Norths where he was the club’s longest serving volunteer, having first started with the club in 1979-80.

His influence, and that of his family, within the Northern Suburbs cricket community has been wide-reaching, with his passion for the game ensuring many generations of boys and girls were able to enjoy their first experiences in cricket under his guidance.

Queensland Cricket Chair Kirsten Pike expressed sympathies to the Netto family on behalf of Queensland Cricket.

“There were few in the Brisbane cricket community who hadn’t come across Glyn and his enthusiasm and love for cricket shone through whenever you encountered him. His steadfast efforts as a volunteer serve as a great example to all, and the legacy of Wilston-Norths as a strong and vibrant club will be a lasting one due to his efforts,” she said.
