Brisbane Heat fans are in for high-flying treat this summer as the legendary Rocketman returns to the Gabba for a 10-year anniversary flight on Thursday 7 December

The Brisbane Heat are a club renowned for keeping fans entertained both on and off the field and have partnered with The Courier-Mail to bring back the highly requested ‘Rocketman’ for one night only at Opening Night of the KFC Big Bash League season.

Rocketman 2.0, Powered by The Courier-Mail, will be piloted by Gravity Industries. Gravity are a leading UK-based company which designs, builds and flies Jet Suits, with over 250 public events in 45 countries to date. Gravity’s Jet Suit pilots have been witnessed by millions of revellers across the globe online and in person, but this will be the first time that a Gravity pilot will take flight at the Gabba.

Heat fans have eagerly awaited the return of Rocketman since his last flight at the Gabba over the 2016/17 season. With BBL|13 marking ten years since Rocketman’s first flight, the Brisbane Heat wanted to celebrate the occasion with a nostalgic anniversary flight that will amaze and delight fans of all ages.

General Manager of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Pete Lock, said it was the right time in the club’s history to bring back this crowd pleaser.

“As each season rolls around, fans are always asking if Rocketman will ever return to the Gabba. We were waiting for the perfect moment to bring him back and thought the ten-year anniversary since his first flight would be the perfect occasion.”

“Some of our younger fans never had the chance to see the original Rocketman take flight, so we’re thrilled to bring this iconic character back to the Gabba and put on a spectacular show for Opening Night.”

“This is just a taste of the entertainment that is to come this summer, and we’re eagerly counting down the days until it all kicks off on 7 December.”

To witness Rocketman 2.0, Powered by The Courier-Mail in full flight, head to Ticketek to grab your tickets to Opening Night of the Big Bash, where the Brisbane Heat will face the Melbourne Stars at the Gabba from 6:15pm.
