The Melbourne Stars have completed the signing of English international player Liam Dawson.

Dawson, 33, has represented England 30 times across all three formats and will be available for the opening 3 matches.

A left arm orthodox spinner with the ability to bat in the middle and lower order, the Hampshire representative is vastly experienced and in form, recently taking 7/15 with the ball for his county against Warwickshire in a one-day match.

“We’re thrilled to announce Liam as part of the Stars squad for the opening 3 matches,” Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch said.

“Liam was a targeted selection after we knew Harry Brook wouldn’t be available for the first three matches.

“He will add a lot of quality to our spin bowling stocks and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can produce in the opening stages of the tournament.”

The Stars will look to announce another international signing in the coming days for the remainder of the tournament.

“We also have one local spot available which we will announce later this week after our practice matches at the MCG,” said Crouch.
